Author Guidelines
Jurnal Ilmiah Ekonomi Bisnis (EKBIS) · p-ISSN 0853-862X | e-ISSN 2089-8002
These guidelines explain how to prepare a manuscript for EKBIS. Please read them in full, together with the journal's policies, before submitting. Manuscripts that do not follow these guidelines will be returned to the authors before review.
Contents: 1. Before You Submit · 2. Article Types · 3. Language, Length, and Format · 4. Title and Author Information · 5. Abstract and Keywords · 6. Manuscript Structure · 7. Tables, Figures, and Equations · 8. Citations and References · 9. Required Declarations · 10. Submission Checklist · 11. After Acceptance
1. Before You Submit
- Make sure the topic fits the Focus and Scope of EKBIS (management, economics, and accounting).
- The manuscript must be original, must not have been published before, and must not be under consideration by another journal.
- Read the related policies: Peer Review Policy, Publication Ethics, Plagiarism Policy (maximum similarity 22%), AI Tools Policy, Open Access Policy (CC BY 4.0), and Article Processing Charge (IDR 1,000,000, charged only after acceptance).
- Use the latest EKBIS template and submit through the journal's online system (OJS), not by email, as a .doc or .docx file.
2. Article Types
EKBIS accepts two types of articles:
- Research article: the results of empirical research (quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods) with a clearly stated novelty and contribution.
- Systematic literature review (SLR): a review that follows a clear and reproducible protocol (for example, PRISMA). An SLR must meet the same citation and reference requirements as a research article (see section 8).
EKBIS does not accept narrative reviews, conceptual papers without empirical or systematic review data, book reviews, or opinion pieces.
3. Language, Length, and Format
- Language: manuscripts are accepted in English only. Authors are responsible for the quality of the language. Manuscripts that are difficult to understand may be returned before review.
- Abstract: in English only. An Indonesian abstract is not required.
- Length: 5,000–8,000 words (about 20–25 pages of the template), including tables, figures, and references.
- Page format: A4 paper, 2.5 cm margins on all sides, Times New Roman 12 pt, single line spacing. All formatting is already set in the template.
4. Title and Author Information
- Title: informative and specific, no more than 20 words, reflecting the main variables or concepts. Avoid abbreviations.
- Authors: full names without academic titles, linked to their affiliations with superscript numbers. The order of authors cannot be changed after submission, except as set out in the Publication Ethics.
- Affiliation: department, institution, city, and country (required).
- Email address for every author.
- ORCID iD: required for the corresponding author and recommended for all authors.
- The corresponding author is marked with an asterisk (*) and their email address.
- Author data entered in OJS (names, affiliations, emails, ORCID) must exactly match the manuscript.
5. Abstract and Keywords
- Abstract: one paragraph of no more than 200 words, without citations, stating the purpose, method (design, sample, and analysis technique), main results, and implications or conclusion.
- Keywords: 3–5 keywords, in alphabetical order. Avoid repeating words from the title where possible.
6. Manuscript Structure
Research article
| Section | Expected content |
|---|---|
| Introduction | Background, the phenomenon or problem, the research gap supported by recent literature, the research objectives, and an explicit statement of the novelty and contribution. |
| Literature Review (and Hypotheses Development) | Supporting theories, relevant previous studies (state of the art), and the reasoning that leads to the hypotheses or conceptual framework for empirical research. |
| Research Method | Research design, population and sampling technique, data sources and collection techniques, instruments and measurement of variables, validity and reliability tests, and analysis techniques, described in enough detail for the study to be replicated. Research using primary data must include a variable operationalization table (variables, definitions, indicators, measurement scale, and sources). The ethics statement is placed here if the study uses primary data from human participants. |
| Results and Discussion | Results presented concisely (tables or figures), followed by a discussion that compares them with theory and previous studies and explains why the results are similar or different. This is the largest section of the manuscript (about 40–50%). |
| Conclusion | An answer to the research objectives (not a summary of the discussion). This section must include theoretical and practical implications, the limitations of the study, and suggestions for future research. |
| Declarations | See section 9. |
| References | Only sources cited in the text, in APA 7th edition style. See section 8. |
Systematic literature review
An SLR follows the same overall structure, with these adjustments: the Method section must describe the review protocol, including the databases searched, search strings, the period covered, inclusion and exclusion criteria, the screening and selection process (with a PRISMA flow diagram), and the quality assessment and synthesis methods. The Results and Discussion section presents and synthesizes the findings of the selected studies and identifies research gaps and a future research agenda.
7. Tables, Figures, and Equations
- Tables must be created with the Microsoft Word table feature, not inserted as images or screenshots from SPSS, SmartPLS, or Excel. The table number and title are placed above the table and the source below it (10 pt). Use horizontal lines only.
- Figures must have a resolution of at least 300 dpi, in JPG or PNG format, and remain legible in black and white. The figure number and title are placed below the figure, followed by the source (10 pt).
- Every table and figure must be referred to and explained in the text.
- Equations must be written with the Microsoft Word Equation Editor and numbered on the right.
- Images created or altered with generative AI are not allowed, except as permitted in the AI Tools Policy.
8. Citations and References
- Citations and references follow the APA 7th edition style and must be managed with a reference manager (Mendeley or Zotero).
- The reference list contains only sources cited in the text, and every citation in the text must appear in the reference list.
- A minimum of 20 references, of which at least 80% are journal articles, preferably from reputable journals.
- At least 80% of the references must have been published within the last 5–7 years, counted from the year of submission. Classic works and foundational theories are excluded from this count.
- Include the DOI as a URL (https://doi.org/...) for every source that has one.
- Avoid excessive self-citation or citation of any particular journal. All citations must be relevant to the manuscript (see Publication Ethics).

6. Struktur Naskah
Artikel hasil penelitian
| Bagian | Isi yang diharapkan |
|---|---|
| Literature Review (and Hypotheses Development) | Teori pendukung, penelitian terdahulu yang relevan (state of the art), dan alur penurunan hipotesis atau kerangka konseptual untuk penelitian empiris. |
| Conclusion | Jawaban atas tujuan penelitian (bukan ringkasan pembahasan).
