Author Guidelines
Journal of Language and Literature (JLL) requires authors to strictly follow the manuscript guidelines before submission. Manuscripts that do not comply with these requirements may be returned for revision or rejected.
1. General Requirements
Articles must be based on research findings, case studies, or scientific development in the field of Language and Literature covering Linguistics, Language Teaching, Literary Studies, and Cultural Studies.
Manuscripts must be original, written in scientific style, and not previously submitted, under review, or published elsewhere.
The article must be written in English, single-spaced, single column, with 4000–6000 words in length and follow the official journal template.
Submission is conducted online through the JLL OJS website.
2. Title
The title should be simple, concise, and informative with only the first word capitalized.
A shortened running title (maximum 15 words or 100 characters including spaces) must also be provided.
Font: Cambria (English and Indonesian).
3. Author(s) and Affiliation
Author names must NOT appear in the manuscript during the first submission to ensure blind review.
Author information must be completed in the OJS metadata, including: First, Middle, and Last Name, Gender, Initial, Affiliation, Email, Mailing Address (complete), Country, and Bio Statement.
If the author uses only one name, it must be written in both first and last name fields.
Two or more authors are preferred.
4. Abstract and Keywords
The abstract must be written in English and Indonesian (150–250 words each).
It must include background, research problem(s), objective(s), method, findings, and conclusion.
Provide five keywords in English and Indonesian.
5. Introduction
The introduction (without subsection) must include background of the study, research context, literature review, research gaps, and research objectives.
All content must be presented in paragraph form (not bullet points).
6. Research Methods
This section describes research design, data sources, data collection techniques, and data analysis methods.
All explanations must be written in paragraph form.
7. Results and Discussion
This section presents findings that answer the research questions and discusses them using relevant theories and references.
8. Conclusion
The conclusion (without subsection) summarizes the main findings and restates the results of the research.
9. Tables and Figures
Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3, etc.).
Table captions are written above the table, while figure captions are written below the figure.
Avoid vertical lines in tables. Figures must be high resolution and not screenshots.
Each table and figure must include its source if applicable.
10. References and Citation Style
References must follow APA style.
All cited sources must appear in the reference list, and all references listed must be cited in the manuscript.
References must be arranged alphabetically and chronologically.
At least 80% of references must be primary sources (journals, proceedings, dissertations, theses, research reports).
Most references should be published within the last 10 years (except primary texts used as research data).
Authors are encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley.
11. Review and Publication Policy
All submitted manuscripts will undergo plagiarism screening.
Articles will be reviewed using blind peer review.
Authors will receive written notification regarding revision or rejection decisions.
JLL is an online journal; printed copies are not available.
There is no publication fee.
The content of the article is solely the responsibility of the author(s).
